The Acadian Half Wedge Axe

Traditional Maine axe craftsmanship, inspired by the heritage of the Acadians.

The Acadian Half Wedge Axe from Brant & Cochran pays tribute to the French Canadian settlers whose history is closely connected with the northern woods of Maine and eastern Canada.

Built around a traditional half-wedge design, this American-made axe features a substantial 2.75 lb. head and a 30-inch Amish-turned New England-pattern hickory handle.

Compared with Brant & Cochran's Allagash Cruiser, the Acadian features a thicker poll, providing additional power for splitting and chopping.

In a tribute to Maine's historic axe makers, the head carries a distinctive stamp reading “Brant & Cochran S. Portland, ME.”

Each Acadian Half Wedge Axe comes with a custom Maine-made leather sheath to protect its sharp cutting edge.
